Time to Prepare this Wok Recipe and Cook it

For this wok recipe with the simple ingredient list and with most ingredients requiring very little preparation at all, this recipe took us about 10 minutes to prepare the ingredients before we started cooking in the wok. While the mushrooms and vegetables were cooking we had the jumbo shrimp finishing up thawing and removed their shells. The total cooking time was about 12 minutes from adding the first vegetables to the end when everything was fully cooked. The time cooking in the wok was a little longer as the amounts sere slightly larger than previous recipes and the shell-on jumbo prawns require a longer cooking time in the wok because the shell serves to insulate them from the heat of cooking. Your cooking times will vary slightly, of course.

Preparation time is very short, because we always are working on some preparation while the slower cooking ingredients are already cooking in the wok. We are thawing the jumbo prawns while we are cooking. We normally prepare the purple onions first, but you could easy prepare them purple onions while you are cooking the slower cooking ingredients like the bell peppers and portabella mushrooms.

Cooking times will be faster if your ingredients are at room temperature, and they will be a little longer if you are taking everything out of the refrigerator and it is still cool when you add it to the wok for cooking.
